Job Service of North Dakota labor statistics show 1,000s of jobs open in North Dakota, unemployment rate low

FARGO — With North Dakota’s unemployment rate one of the lowest in the country, there are more than 17,000 open jobs across the state.

“One of the impacts on workforce is that our state is booming and it’s growing. So as new businesses open up, then there are new job opportunities as well. So, it’s a combination of new jobs and normal turnover of occupations,” said Fargo Workforce Center manager Carey Fry.

Job Service North Dakota Labor Force and Unemployment Statistcs

were released Tuesday, March 14. They show the state of North Dakota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 2.1%. That is tied with Utah as one of the lowest in the country.

There are more than 5,000 open jobs in Fargo and Grand Forks in all fields. Education, health services, and transportation have the most openings with more than 5,000 statewide.

“We have employers who are ready to hire someone, but they are not advertising it anywhere,” Fry said. “So, (…) if you want to go out and check out a company you might be interested in, (visit) their website and see what opportunities they have.”

Job Service North Dakota is also hosting a career expo and construction job fair Thursday, March 23, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Delta Hotel.
