Elena Rybakina v Karolina Muchova Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and that came in the 2019 US Open. Muchova had won that opening round encounter in straight sets.
Rybakina Has No Trouble against Gracheva
After having sent Paula Badosa packing in the previous round, the Wimbledon champion Rybakina entered her fourth round match against Varvara Gracheva as a 1/5 favourite. And she played exactly like that, winning it in straight sets.
In a match lasting a mere hour and 21 minutes, Rybakina dislodged Gracheva from the competition 6-3, 6-0.
The 10th seed was broken twice in the first set though, with the four of the first five games of the opening set going against serve. It was when she held on to make it 3-3 and then broke her opponent two more times that the tide completely shifted in Rybakina’s favour.
From that point on, Rybakina raced away to three more breaks in the final – making it a total of seven in the match – to register the win.
She will now play in her second successive quarterfinal at the Indian Wells Open, hoping to make the semifinal for the first time.

Muchova Continues Her Dream Run
Marketa Vondrousova was a 9/20 favourite going into her fourth round match against Muchova, only to find a roadblock in the form of her Czech opponent.
Muchova did need more than two and a half hours and frittered away two match-points in the second set but came back strongly to win 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-4 and carve out a place in the quarterfinal of the Indian Wells Open. Interestingly, this is the first time Muchova is featuring in this competition.
This victory follows some top draw performances from Muchova in the previous rounds too.
She had started off with a three-set victory over Yulia Putintseva, and then stunned Victoria Azarenka in the second round despite being an 11/10 odds underdog. A potentially easy win over Martina Trevisan turned out to be a three-setter thriller but she came through to set up the fourth round against Vondrousova.
Can the 76th-ranked Muchova now take down a Grand Slam winner?
Rybakina v Muchova Prediction and Tip
Rybakina is a 2/5 favourite but given Muchova’s fighting spirit shown in the tournament, it won’t be easy. Expecting a match that sees a tough battle.
