Men’s Volleyball Falls to Dordt, 3-1 – Ottawa University

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men’s volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-20, 18-25, 11-25, 19-25; to Dordt University on Friday evening in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened

  • With Dordt leading 12-10 in set one, Ottawa went on a 7-1 run to take a 17-13 lead over the Defenders. A Nazmi Bayoglu service ace gave OU a 21-16 lead. The Defenders were not able to rally and the Braves took the 25-20 victory.
  • The teams exchanged points in set two with OU taking an 8-7 lead over Dordt on an attacking error. Dordt scored the next three points to take a 10-8 lead over OU. Ottawa chipped away at the Dordt lead and after a block by Kadeem Morris and Tim Schutzbach, Ottawa was down 14-13. The Defenders responded by scoring the next five points, taking a 19-13 lead over OU. The Braves were not able to answer and Dordt took the 25-18 victory.
  • Dordt opened set three with a 5-1 lead over OU. Ottawa answered with four straight points, tying the set, 5-5, on an Akeil Williams kill. Dordt responded with a 13-1 run, taking an 18-6 lead. Ottawa was not able to rebound and Dordt took the 25-11 victory.
  • A kill by Williams put OU within 6-5 of Dordt in set four. The Defenders, however, went on a run and took a 14-10 lead over the Braves. Ottawa tried to rally, a kill by Williams and a Dordt attacking error put OU within 20-18. The Braves were not able to complete the comeback. Dordt outscored the Braves 5-1 down the stretch, taking the 25-19 victory.
