Ottawa University head men’s basketball coach Aaron Siebenthall has announce the promotion of Jamie Batish from assistant coach to associate head coach. Batish joined the program in 2018-19 as a graduate assistant coach.

“Jamie has more than earned this change in title,” said Siebenthall. He is in his sixth season on our staff.  He started off as a graduate assistant and has worked his way up with hard work and dedication.  Jamie is involved in all facets of our program.  He excels at recruiting, scouting, and player development.  He has been an integral part of our success.  I cannot thank him enough for all he does for me and our program and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for him in this business, but for now, I am glad to call him our associated head coach.”

In Batish’s six seasons, the Braves have an overall record of 113-69 and a KCAC record of 80-55. The 2019-20 Braves won the KCAC regular season and earned a trip to the round of 16 at the NAIA Men’s Basketball Division II National Tournament. He has coached three All-Americans and 18 All-KCAC performers.

“I would like to thank Coach Siebenthall for not only this opportunity, but also the lessons he has taught me on and off the court,” said Batish. “My wife and I love it here at Ottawa and I am very excited to keep working with our student athletes on achieving their goals not only at Ottawa University, but also in their lives away from basketball.”

Batish played professional basketball in 2016-17 for the Sandringham Sabres of the South East Australian Basketball League in Melbourne, Australia. In 2016 he played for the Cheshire Phoenix of the British Basketball League in Cheshire, England.

He played two years at Neosho Community College before transferring to Western Illinois University. Batish graduated from NCC with his associates of science. He graduated from WIU with a bachelors of science in communication with a minor in marketing. Batish earned his MBA from Ottawa University.
