Shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, an officer from the Ottawa detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police observed the man on the e-bike on the highway in the city’s east end.

The driver was stopped by officers and it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol, an OPP news release said.

The man was charged with driving while impaired, driving while prohibited, driving while suspended and operating a motorcycle driven by electricity on a controlled-access highway.

He also received a 90-day driving ban and his e-bike was impounded for 45 days.

The man was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 5.
