Women’s Flag Football Travels to Kansas Wesleyan on Thursday – Ottawa University

Ottawa won its second straight game, defeating Baker University 54-0 at AdventHealth Field on Wednesday night.  OU finished the game with 446 yards of offense, 437 yards though the air and 15 yards on the ground. Baker had 149 yard of offense, seven yards rushing and 110 yards passing. Madysen Carrera went 23-for-31 through the air for 269 yards and five touchdowns. Marley Spielberg was 3-for-3 for 125 yards and one touchdown. Tatiana Dos Santos led OU with five receptions and 171 yards and one touchdown. Addison Orsborn had four receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. Abby Brown, Leilani Caamal, Alyssa Gillespie, and Hailee McKay had three flag pulls apiece. Faron Malouff led OU with two interceptions. Hailee McKay, Hope Humes, and Cynthia Homs each finished with an interception.

This season, the Braves are averaging 39.3 points per game while holding opponents to 8.8 points per game. Ottawa is averaging 304.2 yards of offense per game, 31.7 yards rushing and 272.5 yards through the air. Opponents are averaging 170.1 yards of offense per game, 13.2 yards rushing and 156.9 yards passing.

Madysen Carrera is 204-for-279 though the air for 2,203 yards. She has thrown 42 touchdowns, is averaging 220.3 passing yards per game, and is completing 73.1 percent of her passes. Carrera also leads the team rushing. She has 211 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Jazlyn Camacho leads OU in receptions with 37. She has 432 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Cynthia Homs is second in the team in receptions with 33. She leads the Braves in receiving yards with 448 and has nine receiving touchdowns.

Abby Brown leads the Braves in flag pulls with 48. She has four interceptions and four pass break ups. Susann Kaufmann is second on team in flag pulls with 35. She has six sacks, nine flag pulls for loss and five pass break ups. Leilani Caamal has 32 flag pulls, two flag pulls for loss, one interception, and three pass break ups.

The Braves are 3-0 on the road this season. OU is outscoring opponents 147-6 (49.0-2.0) in road games this year.

Thursday is the 12th meeting between Ottawa University and Kansas Wesleyan University. The Braves lead the series, 11-0. Ottawa has a record of 3-0 in Salina against the Coyotes. OU won all three meetings last season. OU took a 33-6 victory on Feb. 25 in Salina, won 28-20 in Ottawa on April 1, and OU captured the KCAC Tournament Championship at Arrowhead Stadium on April 29, 34-14.

Kansas Wesleyan University has an overall record of 9-1, a KCAC mark of 7-1, is on a two game winning streak, and has a record of 5-1 at home this season. The Coyotes first loss of the season happened on March 13 at home against Baker. The Wildcats won the game, 30-28.

Alexa Mansur is KWU’s leader in flag pulls with 81. She has one sack, two flag pulls for loss, four interceptions, and four pass break ups. Lexi Marquez is second on the team in flag pulls with 51. She has three interceptions and two pass break ups. Angel Roman has four interceptions and five pass break ups.
